No, we no longer work with Owner Builder’s in either ACT or NSW.
Do you issue Building Approvals for Existing Works?
We can only issue retrospective approvals in ACT. We cannot issue retrospective approvals in NSW.
You will need to contact your local Council and request a Building Certificate.
Do you complete Land Surveys?
No, we don’t provide land surveys.
What is the cost of getting works approved?
As every project is different, with a varied amount of required inspections, we price each project individually.

How long does a Building Approval take?
A Building Approval takes approximately 6-8 weeks. The approval time depends on the complexity of the build, the entity approvals, and the additional documentation being supplied. The more prepared you can be, the quicker the approval can be issued.
What documentation do you need in order to issue a Building Approval?

Do you organise Development Approvals in the ACT?
No, we don’t apply for Development Approvals. If you require a Development Approval, please contact our office and we provide you with contact details of people who can.

What are the Entity Approvals you are referring to?
Before issuing a Building Approval in the ACT, we are required to obtain written consent from the following Government Entities.
1. ActewAGL Electrical
2. Icon Water
3. Jemena Gas
4. Transport Canberra City Services
How long do the entity approvals take?
The Building Act under Schedule 2 requires the entity providers to issue written consent within 15 working days.
My block doesn’t have any easements on it, do I still need to wait for entity approvals?
Yes, for projects to be considered exempt it needs appropriate entity approvals.

Do you inspect Driveways?
In ACT, driveway inspections are carried out by Transport Canberra City Services. In NSW driveways are inspected by your local Council.
What are the Mandatory Inspections in the ACT?
The Mandatory Inspections in the ACT are as follows:
1. Completion of placement of formwork and/or placement of steel reinforcing, for any structural concrete member prior to any concrete being poured (Including Piers, Footings, Slabs, Retaining Walls etc.
2. Completion of the Structural framework and, before the placement of any insulation or internal lining. After all services have been roughed in and all external cladding installed. Including Pre-sheet and Sub-Floor Frame.
3. Completion of the building work approved in the relevant building approval.
